Dismantle Part 1

The 11th and 12th of June, I started taking out some pieces before removing the engine.
As expected, I saw more rusty parts. The bumper screw holes are rotten, as also the areas around the front lights.
Trying to figure out what will be the easiest/cheapest way to make it decent: weld new pieces, or just replace the whole front assembly.

Rusty!

To get rid of the shitload of rust, we checked the internet.
Easiest and best way to do it is using Electrolysis.
Just put the rusty part in a bath of water, mixed with soda. Put in a second piece of iron. Attach a powersupply (we used 12V/2A). Minus to the rusty part, plus to the iron.
This was just a test, but it did the job very well. This is what we'll use (in a bigger box), to take care of the rest.

Cleaning...

28th of May, I started cleaning up the car a little, and checked what had to be done.
The car is rusty in some places, and mistreated in some spots (Painted with a brush for example). We'll completely disassemble the car, redo the bodywork, and take a good look at the engine and its parts.
Due to a leaking radiator tube, the passenger side was wet. We took out the carpets to let them dry decently.

Mini Jet Black, the arrival

The 17th of May 2013, I bought a Mini 1000 Jet Black in the Netherlands. It was quite a job to get it to Belgium. This Mini drove 300km in one day. Last 2 years, it only drove 30.
The Mini came from Diepenveen, where the second owner bought it 3 years ago.
We met in Arnhem to take care of the paper work and start the export.
It came home safe.
We'll start this project in the next weeks.
